school
Primary School begins from Grade 1 to Grade 5. The Primary curriculum is a holistic and tailor made program that has been studied and designed to incorporate the best international curricula from around the globe while providing a comprehensive progressive education.
Underpinned by an inquiry based approach, our program is student centred and draws upon the learning standards from the Canadian, Italian and UK Ministry of Education’s Primary Curriculum. Each of these curricula contribute unique elements that provide a solid educational foundation, aimed to equip children with a set of “technical” competencies and “soft” skills, which are important for their daily life.

The curriculum
English is the main language of delivery at Milan World School with a strong emphasis in Italian followed by French as a third language. The subjects studied in Primary are:

The Italian Program for native speakers follows the Italian Ministry of Education guidelines. The curriculum is enriched ensuring students have the option of taking an “Idoneità” assessment at the end of Grade 5.

French is taught as a third language in Primary. Our goal is to inspire a love for the language while preparing our students for a diverse, multicultural world.

Soft skills
In an age where children are inundated with information, many are missing out on developing essential soft skills that are crucial for tackling real-life challenges.
These skills are fundamental to their learning journey and play a vital role in their personal and social development. At Milan World School, we prioritize the development of soft skills such as communication, teamwork, empathy, adaptability, critical thinking, problem-solving and self-management. We believe that emphasizing these skills early on prepares students for future success, both in academic settings and in everyday life.

Experiential Education
Our learning and teaching approach is rooted in experiential education, where students actively engage in ‘learning by doing’.
This hands-on method allows students to connect classroom activities with real-life contexts, fostering deeper understanding and critical thinking. To support this inquiry-driven approach, we have created dynamic school spaces, such as well-equipped laboratories, that enable students to explore, experiment, and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.
At the heart of our commitment to experiential learning, we also offer enriching learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom.
From an early age, students will embark on curriculum-based field trips that encourage them to explore the world around them, apply their classroom learning, and make real-world connections. These interactive and immersive experiences not only enhance curricular learning but also foster teamwork, build community, and develop essential interpersonal skills.
